If you are trying to become pregnant you might be feeling a little impatient to know if you have successfully become pregnant or not. That waiting period, although only a short few weeks, seems to take such a long time until you can finally do a test to find out for sure whether you have a little baby growing inside you.

So while you are waiting and wondering, let’s look at some early pregnancy signs that might be of interest to you:

Feeling lightheaded or dizzy – this may happen if you have been on your feet for a long period of time then you may just suddenly feel a bit lightheaded and need to sit down. This was the sign that made me realise that I could be pregnant with my third child as I wasn’t trying to conceive at the time, but when I started feeling lightheaded when I was standing for a while I started to suspect that I might be pregnant. Sure enough, a pregnancy test soon confirmed that I was.

Morning sickness or nausea – morning sickness is one of the unpleasant symptoms of being pregnant that many women will suffer from. You may experience morning sickness at any time of the day, it doesn’t necessarily have to occur in the morning, and some women will have it lasting all day. Some women will only have a nausea feeling while others will have actual vomiting. So feeling sick or being sick every day can be one more tell tale sign of pregnancy.

Missed or late period – if you are usually regular with your menstrual cycle then the absence or lateness of a period could be a pregnancy sign. If you have just stopped taking the pill or are under a lot of stress then this might not be such a reliable sign. Also, if your menstrual periods aren’t usually all that regular, then I wouldn’t rely on a late period being a pregnancy sign.

Sore breasts – sore or tender breasts are very common early on in pregnancy. You might just feel a general soreness or just a tenderness to touch, but it will be fairly obvious and you will likely notice that it is out of the normal.

Urinating more often – the frequent need to go to the toilet is also a very common sign early on in a pregnancy. The changes in hormones do all sorts of strange things to your body and needing to pee more often is one of those things. This might also occur later in the pregnancy due to the baby putting pressure on your bladder.

Change in mood – changes in mood and irritability can also be a sign that you are pregnant as the changing of hormones happening in your body are enough to send anyone into an irritable mood.

Pregnancy spotting – it is very common to have some spotting at the time when your period would usually have occurred. You will notice that it is much lighter than a normal menstrual period and is usually just some breakthrough spotting or an implantation bleed. This is normal and nothing to be concerned about unless the bleeding continues for a number of days then you might want to visit your doctor.

These are the main pregnancy signs but not all women will have them. You may suffer from just some of these symptoms or all of the symptoms. If you have any pregnancy sign at all and think that you might be pregnant, then I recommend visiting your GP soon to find out for definate whether you are pregnant or not.

If you do find that you are pregnant, I hope you have a happy, healthy pregnancy and may your baby bring so much joy to your life.

Becoming pregnant is such an exciting time and it is often difficult waiting for the day to come when you can do the test to find out if you are pregnant. Visit Pregnancy Conception to find out more about increasing your chances of becoming pregnant.
