A trilogy of stories set in the same house, but with different occupants and spanning over 40 years, deals with various women and moral crisis over unexpected pregnancies and their choice of abortion. In 1952, when abortion was illegal, a nurse deals with her unexpected pregnancy and takes drastic measures to get one. In 1974 a family housewife with four children discovers that she’s pregnant and decides she can’t handle another child to raise. In 1996, a pregnant college student decides on an abortion, but doesn’t realize the means to go through to get one.

All seems calm and peaceful in Peckham. Cassandra is in the late stages of pregnancy, which means Rodney will finally become a father. At the cemetery, Del is cleaning up the monument of his and Rodney’s mother Joan. It is revealed that after they became millionaires, the Trotters used some of their money to give their mother’s grave a whole new makeover. Later, at the Nag’s Head, Sid tells Trigger that he got some suggestions from Mike on how to spice up the pub. He also shows Rodney, Del, Trigger, and Mickey Pearce an old photograph of the very first Jolly Boys’ Outing in 1960. Mickey and Sid speculate that Boycie has killed Marlene.

After coming clean to his father, Ben remains stressed about his urgent situation with Adrian as he and Leo disagree on how to go about it. Meanwhile Amy gets much needed support for her chance to attend the music program and Adrians parents suspect that something is going on with her. At school, Ben insists on talking to Adrian about where they stand while Adrian refuses his efforts and continues to ignore Grace; Amy also recieves news that she is to leave for New York the following day. Later, Ricky promises to move into Amy’s room to take care of John while she is away and George and Anne decide to rekindle their intimate relationship. Elsewhere, Jeff urges Grace to focus on herself and her future rather than Adrians situation but Grace argues that she wants to be there for her friend. Ben becomes upset when Leo explains that he passed the news of Adrian’s pregnancy onto Ruben over dinner and Cindy comes home to the same shocking news as she learns of her daughters secret.

Steve and Janet announce the pregnancy and engagement to her parents, who respond by calling Janet a disgrace. Steve’s father tries to convince the couple to put off marriage for a while. Janet collapses and has to be taken to the hospital. She is diagnosed with a panic attack and told to avoid unnecessary stress. Mr. and Mrs. Sosna ask Janet to leave Steve and move back into their house. At the couple’s engagement party, Steve lies to Janet’s parents about the identity of his mom’s lover, Karen. He asks his father to play along, unaware that Rush is apparently the only person in Los Angeles who didn’t know that Samantha is gay. Steve and Janet stand up to their families. Although they would appreciate some support, they will not tolerate any further efforts to break them up. Matt and Noah each offer to move out so that Steve can move Janet and the baby into the house. Matt asks Kelly to get an apartment with him, but she nixes this idea. Donna decides that she and Noah will live together. Gina and Noah secretly start an after-hours strip club at the Peach Pit After Dark. Dylan helps a hotel maid and her prankster sons. David asks Robyn for a chance to prove that he is not the obnoxious jerk he portrays on the radio.
