Baby Details – Are You Truly Pregnant Or Have You Been Possibly Mistaken?

June 10, 2010 by Miriam Gray

When a woman who is old enough to have kids thinks she is pregnant, has the signs of being pregnant, and even experiences changes to her body that come as a result of pregnancy, but is not in fact pregnant, she is suffering from an ailment called Pseudocyesis, also called pseudo-pregnancy.

The woman may experience such pregnancy symptoms as morning sickness, tender breasts, and the cessation of her period, and may even see her abdomen widen in the case of a false pregnancy.

It is easy to not keep proper track of your menstrual cycles and believe you have missed a period when you haven’t, but in this condition a missed period is often the first and most common symptom. Other influences which might bring on a false pregnancy are an actual fear of getting pregnant or a strong desire to become pregnant, both of which can bring on stress.

A woman naturally has breast tenderness and even mild pain in relation to the menstrual cycle. This is yet another symptom that those suffering from pseudo-pregnancy will believe is a sign of pregnancy. Fluctuations in hormones are responsible for many symptoms including delayed or missed periods and nausea. While these can be signs of early pregnancy, they are not definitive.

Strangely enough, women might even notice their abdominal area actually enlarging when they are experiencing psuedocyesis. Build up of stress related gas in the stomach, water retention leading to bloating, and overeating because they believe themselves to really be pregnant may all contribute to the reality of the abdomen widening.

Among women who have lost a child or who have suffered from a miscarriage, pseudo pregnancy tends to be most common. Also it is most often found in women who are experiencing fertility struggles, are having trouble conceiving, and who are already in their thirties and forties. These false pregnancy symptoms are not surprisingly often associated with emotional conflict.

A female who strongly wishes to get pregnant, or the reverse, one who is extremely scared of getting pregnant develops inner turmoil which then causes the endocrine system to get out of balance and is directly responsible for changing the period cycle.

When in question, a simple home pregnancy test can lay fears to rest. Any signs or symptoms that you may be experiencing can also be professionally addressed by your gynecologist.

If you’re an expectant mom, then you absolutely cannot live without maternity sleepwear. If you’ve ever been pregnant, then you know that trying to rest peacefully is no small task. The closer you get to delivery, the more uncomfortable it gets. You can increase your comfort level by donning soft, comfortable nightwear will your ability to relax and slumber. Typically, maternity sleepwear is designed with nursing accommodations for use during your postpartum period. The fact that these are clearly designed with the future in mind should ease your mind about your investment. This will be more appropriate for you to wear than your regular women’s silk pajamas.

Maternity pajamas are designed to be purchased in your pre-pregnancy size. This will hold true unless your pregnancy weight gain has been more than 35 pounds. Obviously, if your pregnancy is a multiple, then you will likely need to purchase a larger size.

Most nightwear for maternity use includes variable bra sizes so it can be fitted properly and provide support plus access for nursing. If you purchase your nightgown or pajamas before the baby is born, then add one cup size to the bust so you can continue to wear it for nursing after the baby is born.

There are numerous styles and designs, so you’re sure to find something you will like. Whether you’re hoping to find something sexy, romantic, fun, casual, or boyish, you can find the set to suit your look. Maternity pajamas come in all manner of designs. You can buy camisoles, gowns, robes, yoga pants, capri, and all other types of pajamas.

You can also buy sets that have robes and even a set of pajamas for your newborn as well. Maternity sets make excellent baby shower gifts. They are also excellent items to pack in your hospital bag. Or you can start wearing them now and sleep comfortably. This is a great item to include on your gift list. Your friends and family are always looking for gifts to buy for you.

Great maternity and nursing styles, including the Pajannaman and MJs sleepwear, are offered by Majamas. These styles are both made of Majamas’ super comfy material that is extra soft, moisture wicking, and stretchy, and includes pull-down access for nursing. The MJs feature pajama pants that are full length and fit under the stomach, while the Pajannaman has cropped pants that also fit beneath the stomach. Both types come with short sleeves and cross-over tops that support the bust. Majamas also offers fashionable maternity sleepwear styles in many lively designs and colors.

Hopefully these sets will allow you to ride out the remainder of your pregnancy in style and comfort. You need to get your rest. Soon you’ll be busier than ever!

Get Yourself Ready For Baby Delivery

May 25, 2010 by Jacey Chan

Many soon-to-be mothers always wonder when they are actually in labor. Honestly, it is different for everybody. There are some women who will develop more than obvious signs and then there are some others who will see signs of a much more subtle nature.

Before the baby is to be delivered, a tell tale sign is the change of shape of a woman’s stomach. This is due to the baby moving down to the pelvis region in preparation for birth. She will notice that breathing gets a little bit easier and this sign is known as “lightening”.

Urinating and water breaking can sometimes be mistaken for one another. So how do you tell which is which? When the amniotic sac breaks around your baby, the fluid that is discharged can be sometimes confused for urine. However, amniotic fluid will not smell the same as urine. If you do notice an odor, as a safety measure it is best to mention this to your doctor.

Other signs that a woman will be given will come from labor contractions. Initially, these contractions will start quite subtly and may feel like period cramps occurring around the lower back. They normally will happen at regular intervals, and the interval time should get shorter and shorter as to baby prepares to be delivered. The contractions also become a lot stronger and more intense.

Another sign that you are in labor, is a stringy vaginal discharge. The thick mucus is part of the plug in your cervix that has come loose.

In most cases if you think that labor has really begun, the best thing to do is to call your midwife or general practitioner for instructions. Many women can go through a couple of false alarms during maternity, and this is quite normal. Your doctor will know better whether you are truly in labor or not.

Since the prospect of a pending labor can bring about tons of nervous excitement, it is best you and your family get prepared. So starting right now, prepare a list of useful phone numbers and placed them next to every phone in your household so you don’t have to scramble through the phone book to minute your contractions start.

Baby Nursery Decoration Done Inexpensively

May 16, 2010 by Jack Bennington

Let’s be honest: when you have a baby, it is expensive, especially when it comes to your baby nursery decoration ideas. If you are expecting a new baby, then you no doubt want his or her room to be comfortable and safe and provide happy feelings. You may also think you cannot do that without spending a fortune, but that is not at all true, as you will see. You can do this even on a tight budget!

Now, your child’s nursery is going to need a lot of elements. Some people choose to base their decor around the furniture. Others do it the other way around. Their decor provides inspiration for the furniture they like. Whichever way you decide to do that, you do need to begin with the must haves for baby’s new room.

What are those? Well, first of all, you want a crib, and it needs to meet all the criteria for a safe crib. A comfortable rocking chair or easy chair are good for mom and baby both. A footstool is a good idea as well. You will find yourself going through a lot of long nights with your new baby and, as such, a cot or daybed can be helpful too.

Another thing that a baby’s room needs is a changing table. This is something that you may have to do some research on, as it is certainly something that needs to be safe for your baby. While dressers and tables appear to make a good changing table, however that is not the case — you need low rails to ensure that your baby does not roll off.

A couple things to keep in mind whenever you are designing a baby’s room is comfort and safety. These are two things that should play in your mind whenever you select furniture for your child. While you want cute things, remember, having a baby in your home is difficult and you will want to ensure that everyone is comfortable and of course that your child is safe.

Now we are ready for the decorations! Some parents wait until after the baby is born to decorate, because they know more about the child’s budding personality. Regardless, here is where the fun begins. You can choose vibrant primary colors to stimulate your baby or gender specific colors or comforting, calming neutral shades.

One thing is for sure, in baby nursery decoration, it all comes down to what will make your baby feel safe and happy. That might be fine artwork for children, pastel animals, or bright, primary colors. It might be something subtle or something vibrant. But as long as baby is happy, it will be great!

Find Here 10 Ways To Dress When You Find Out You Are Pregnant

May 13, 2010 by Adriana Noton

When women find out they’re having a baby, one of the first things they want to do is proudly display it in maternity clothing. However, maternity clothes can be expensive. Here are 10 ways to dress when you find out you are pregnant that will help you save money without being uncomfortable in this important time.

The first tip is to avoid rushing out right away and buying your entire maternity wardrobe. Some clothes will end up being too big and then will be too small later on. Try to make the clothes you have now last as long as possible. Consider a belly band that can be bought at a maternity store and allows you to keep wearing your same pair of jeans for quite some time. A second tip is to consider buying transitional clothes in plus sizes, that will be comfortable and often just as fashionable as maternity clothing.

A third tip for dressing during pregnancy is to shop thrifty, from a second hand store. You can find really good clothing that is in great shape and even looks expensive, at a fraction of the cost. Because maternity clothes are often only necessary for the last trimester of pregnancy, a fourth tip might mean that you borrow clothes from friends. Friends often get pregnant around the same time and they won’t be using theirs once their own child is born. Ask family and friends for what they have left over.

A fifth tip for pregnancy dressing is to keep the silhouette of the pregnant body in mind when choosing clothes. Look for A-line cuts that are narrow at the top and flared at the bottom. Empire waists that ride over the belly just beneath the breasts are perfect. A sixth tip means looking into Dad’s wardrobe to see what he has that might fit you just as well. A button up shirt left undone with a T-shirt beneath will look great. Button it up and put it over leggings with some bangles and a choker and rolled up sleeves to look classy.

Layers are the seventh tip to think of when dressing for maternity. Layers break up the solid look of a pregnant shape and can be taken off if moms start to get overheated. The thing to watch out for though with the layered look is sloppiness. A layered look can be very classy if done correctly.

For the eighth tip, consider showing a bit of skin during pregnancy. Some women continue to have great legs and arms through out their trimesters, and some are very proud of their new cleavage. However, don’t try to squish your way into your old clothing, which could be painful and very uncomfortable as your body swells.

For the ninth tip, choose maternity wear that you will feel comfortable wearing after the baby is born. Nursing bras also double as great maternity full support bras. And once the baby is born, you won’t have the energy to go shopping for new clothes. Maternity clothing that can double as ‘after baby’ clothing can make the weeks if not months of recovery from birth more comfortable.

A tenth and very important tip to remember as the 10 ways to dress when you find out you are pregnant is respecting what is happening to your body. A chemical called relaxin, for instance, is spreading your joints so that your pelvis will allow the baby through. One of the results is that your feet spread too. So don’t choose maternity as a time to start wearing high heels or platform shoes. Whatever you choose to wear during your pregnancy, most importantly feel comfortable and beautiful. It’s a blessed event!

The Importance Of A Healthy Diet To A Pregnant Woman

May 11, 2010 by Mary Ann Louise

It is fairly common knowledge that pregnant women become very tired in their last trimester. But did you know that being unusually tired can be one of the first signs of pregnancy?

Many experts will advise that if pregnant women are tired, they should take a nap, but that isn’t always practical, particularly if you are driving or are at work. But there are some lifestyle and nutritional changes that can help you to feel more alert.

For pregnant women, the feeling of wanting to sleep after eating large meals can be much stronger than it is for most people, yet pregnant women must be sure they are eating enough to meet the needs of their baby. Eating frequent, smaller meals instead of a couple of large meals each day and reduce fatigue in many women.

Some women do not eat breakfast normally, but it is very important that pregnant women do not skip the first meal of the day!

Lunch is equally important for pregnant women, as they’ll need to keep their energy up throughout the day. Skipping lunch can cause people to eat very large dinners, which will only increase those feelings of fatigue.

Skipping meals can cause some pregnant women to become sick or feel dizzy. This is because their body requires more calories than it did pre-pregnancy.

Many women suffer from iron deficiencies even when they are not pregnant. Iron is very important and we need it for energy. Pregnant women should be especially careful to get enough iron in their diet from foods like red meat and spinach, and may even want to talk to their doctor about supplements.

Lastly, don’t forget that rest is important too! Pregnant women should be sure to get lots of sleep each night, which will soon be a rare luxury once the baby is born, so enjoy it now!

Tips About Reducing Spider Veins

April 18, 2010 by Tom Fullerton

Women all over the world suffer from varicose veins, but the majority of them feel embarrassed by their unpleasant sight on their skin. When these blue veins come bulging up through the skin of the calves and thighs, many women will resort to trying to hide this unsightly blemishes by wearing long pants and skirts.

Phlebitis is the disease is in which varicose veins are caused by, but the main problem is due to poor circulation of blood flow in the veins of the legs. Normally, the valves in the leg veins will become weak over time or will just completely stop working all together, which will cause the blood to stop flowing properly through the veins. As this happens, the blood begins to flow in an irregular pattern and will oftentimes pool up in areas, which leads to the varicose veins.

Research studies have been done on varicose veins, but not much is know about them as of yet. It is known that it is a trait that runs in families, which means if they are in your family, then you have something to look forward too. Many pregnant women develop varicose veins, but it has not been determined yet to as why. Researchers feel it is due to the pressure that the growing uterus places on the veins going to legs throughout the pregnancy.

Women can take preventative measures from getting varicose veins by walking and resting with their feet elevated. Other preventative measures that will help them is by wearing support hose, which will support the veins in their legs.

Anyone with varicose veins knows they will not just disappear all on their own. The majority of women will deal with them being on their legs. Of course, this all depends on how bad they are and where they are on their legs. If the varicose veins are too bad, then some women will opt for a surgical treatment to have them removed, but normally this is only in the most severe cases.

Many individuals are afraid to have to be put asleep to have a surgical procedure done, which is why the varicose vein procedure, known as stripping, is so great. Individuals are not put asleep, but instead only a local anesthesia is used. This procedure has been around since the 1950s and is still a very popular and productive procedure today.

Now, that they have had the surgery, it will not be long before they will be back to enjoy all those activities they were before. They will no longer be too tired to chase their children in the yard or go for a walk. They will even feel much more comfortable slipping into a pair of shorts to show off their sexy legs every now and again.

How To Find Health Insurance That Covers Pregnancy and Delivery

April 12, 2010 by Rick Davis

Do you have maternity health insurance? People who are looking for some sort of maternity health insurance generally fall into two categories. They are planning for a future pregnancy, and they are concerned about the cost of having a healthy baby. Or they are already pregnant, and wonder how they can get some help with doctor’s visits and hospital costs. Some of these people may have some coverage, but it does not cover pregnancy very well, or they may have no health insurance at all.

Consider these choices.

Group major medical insurance, from an employer, usually covers pregancy. A typical answer is for one spouse to have a job that provides this. I understand that it is not always an option. Some employers do not provide these benefits, and some people are self employed, contract workers, small business owners, or unemployed. Getting another job, with good group medical insurance, is not always an option, especially these days.

These people could turn to private insurers if the woman is not already pregnant. But actually, maternity options are rare in the individual health insurance market. And you must have the policy in place before you start working on making a baby! If you are planning for a future pregnancy, you probably want to search for private health insurance with a maternity rider.

Let me be clear. Any complications, like a C section, should be insured by private major medical. But the normal checkups, blood tests, and deliveries, will not be covered unless you have explicit maternity coverage.

Right now, individual insurers will decline pregnant women. You must take the policy in advance. Perhaps in the future, with health reform, this will not be true. But according to the news, those changes will not be in force for about 4 more years. I am not exactly sure what sort of pregnancy benefits that future policies will have either.

Let us look at some public health care options, and also at some private charities that may provide some financial help.

Every state has some sort of high risk health insurance pool, but not everybody qualifies for it. In many cases, premiums are expensive and deductibles are fairly high. Now the CHIPS program is the federal and state public health insurance option for children from low to moderate income children does also cover pregnant women. This is a viable option for many families. And the newborn children should also be covered as soon as they are born. You could look for information on CHIPS, Medicaid, and High Risk Health Pools in your state.

You could also look into low cost clinics that the federal government or your county health system provides. Some private charities have funds to aid pregnant women. Try searching the Partnership for Prescription Assistance website. They have lots of information, and a lot of the resources they list do much more than just offer prescription medicine.

Do you have a higher income or some savings?

Some people use pre-paid plans to pay for normal hospital, medical, and doctor’s costs. This can be a good way to plan for your costs. You can check for payment plans by calling hospitals and doctors. I have seen some listed online too.

You can learn more about maternity health insurance. Don’t reprint this exact article. Instead, reprint a free unique content version of this same article.
