Facts Concerning Teen Pregnancy

March 27, 2011 by Jessica Whitmore

In 2007, the Centers for Disease Control body did a study which showed that teen pregnancies were on the rise with a three per cent increase since 2005. When it comes to teen pregnancies, very few of them have been planned. In America, two thirds of a million teenagers become expectant mothers every year. Compared to other developed countries, these rates are either double, triple and in some cases, eight times higher. America gets eight times more of teenage pregnancies as compared to a country like Japan. Wales and England have half the teenage pregnancy cases that the United States have.

Some of the reasons for this comes from the fact that the western culture and especially the Hollywood influence has led to glorification of sex and it is no longer seen as a sacred deed between a married couple but as a recreational activity for all and sundry. Very little is said about the consequences. Children are raised listening and watching TV commercials that are rife with these suggestive texts and scenes and teens end up practicing what they see.

Other factors that may influence a teen’s chance of getting pregnant would be if the teen comes from a background of poverty and has failed to get a good schooling which gives her hope for the future, then she will not have the strong will to focus on bettering herself. It is easier for such a girl to be waylaid by peers with loose morals. The same poverty does not allow her to get the birth controls she will require in order to avoid getting pregnant. For girls who do not perform well in class, getting pregnant in their teens is possible because of a number of reasons. If they do not occupy their minds with excelling in class, they may end up spending time doing things that will lead to sex.

Other risk factors for teen pregnancies would be performing poorly in class. Girls who have poor grades in school sometimes look for comfort for their frustrations and are easy targets for peer pressure. Other reasons would include a teen being raised by a single parent, either mother or father, having being born by a teen mother, or having a sister who is also a teen mother.

Besides that, those who have already engaged in sex should know about preventing pregnancy, for those who are already pregnant, they will need to be informed on how to become responsible parents as well as how to prevent more pregnancies. Another very important thing to note is that teen pregnancies are not just a problem for the girls. Boys too, who share the same responsibility, should know the importance of abstaining, preventing pregnancy and taking up the responsibility of a father.

Making a Positive Impact on Pregnant Moms

Pregnancy is frequently associated with a number of common discomforts such as low back pain, joint pain and sore muscles. Today more expectant moms are opting for specialized massage techniques that can help reduce these discomforts safely and naturally. Light touch massage is even used to help reduce labor pains and ease the stress of labor.

Effortlessly Eliminate Stress

Many techniques can be incorporated into massage sessions and these can be tailored to give your body the results that are most needed. It does not matter if you feel the need to pamper yourself, want to lower your stress level, or have a medical problem that requires therapeutic intervention it is an indisputable fact that massage can give you the most beneficial results.

At the present time it is well known that many diseases and health issues are the result of stress. Health care specialists are well aware that extremely high stress levels can cause disease, poor health and can even speed up the process of aging. It may not be realistic to expect all stress to be eliminated from daily life but therapeutic massage can help your body combat the symptoms that stress can cause.

Massage therapists can help clients lower their anxiety levels and reduce their fatigue. The benefits of massage will also produce additional positive results such as better sleep, sharper mental focus, improved memory, better concentration and more energy.

You will soon notice that your body feels better and your skin looks healthier and more vibrant. Older cells on the surface of your skin are sloughed away and healthy new cells begin to appear as your body begins to channel more nutrients and oxygen to the underlying cells below the skin’s surface.

Healthier Life

One of the biggest and most important benefits of massage revolves around the change in your immune system. Massage involves repeated motions that help energize the lymph flow in the body. This boosts your natural defense system and builds your immunity.

Treating Depression with Massage Therapy

People who must deal with signs and symptoms of depression can also benefit from massage. Most of these individuals show an improvement with their symptoms and in a majority of cases the signs can even be eliminated completely. In addition to an improvement in the quality of sleep there is also an improvement in attitude and energy levels.

Healthy Pain Relief

There are also important changes that are noticed when massage therapy is used as a treatment for people who suffer from chronic pain. Many individuals with pain or drug dependency issues have seen improvement when massage therapy is added to their regimen. In fact health care specialists state that massage can reduce or alleviate pain and body aches that have failed to respond to traditional therapies. Migraine headaches that fail to respond to pain medications are able to be treated with specific massage techniques that release the body’s natural ‘pain-killing’ endorphins.

Still More Massage Health Benefits

It should also be noted that massage produces other health benefits. Massage can be helpful at treating arthritis, asthma and even high blood pressure and other circulatory problems. Today massage is frequently being used to speed recovery time and reduce pain in patients who have undergone surgery or suffered from burns.

The natural principles of massage are also becoming part of the treatment plan for most patients who have undergone serious operations. Even burn patients are having their recovery period speeded up thanks to the use of massage techniques. An expanding clientele are now enjoying the many positive and healthy benefits of massage therapy. Today many health care professionals are adding licensed massage therapists to their offices and clinics. This means that these healing and soothing therapy sessions are being introduced and promoted by a widening group of doctors and clinicians. As a result the use of massage in mainstream society is becoming more widely embraced, understood and accepted.

It Is Simple To Know How To Be Healthy During Pregnancy

March 13, 2011 by Tom Hesket

There is something predictable about human nature that can easily be seen when the new year rolls around and everyone is scrambling to make resolutions. We all want to make changes within our lives and many of them have to do with getting healthier, or working out more, but life finds a way of putting up reasons for us to procrastinate. It usually takes a push to make someone want to change and it can be be small like getting into a relationship, or huge like getting pregnant. Knowing how to be healthy durning pregnancy is not as difficult as it can seem.

There is, indeed, no shortage of people wanting to offer advice. Friends and family will give you all of their time tested recommendations while, as the pregnancy gets to the point that you are showing, strangers will accost you at all times with their own advice and judgments. During pregnancy a woman’s body is truly not her own in a variety of ways.

This is unfortunate and a nuisance, but for the most part people are filled with good intentions so it is best to just ignore it and get on with the process. Being healthy during all trimesters of your pregnancy is easy and starts with being active. There is a stereotype of the pregnant woman eschewing activity and taking it easy, but in truth you should strive to continue an exercise program.

For women who are already extremely active, you should go a bit easier on yourself, but there is no reason to stop staying fit. For women who are not active at all there is no reason to feel like you have been doing something wrong – you can start activity at any time. Just taking a daily walk will help you get and stay fit. This helps with both the labor and getting back on your feet afterwards.

The best piece of advice, however, is staying in contact and making all appointments with your primary care physician. A doctor can monitor your progress over the trimesters and give you advice accordingly, including any vitamin supplements. Nutrients are, of course, one of the largest pieces of the puzzle when it comes to a good pregnancy. Eating for two does not mean gaining huge amounts of weight, no matter what celebrities will tell you.

With the addition of a growing baby, it has been established that the increase in food is really equal to an extra three hundred calories per day. That is not a substantial amount and, by the end of your pregnancy, there is no reason for you to have gained more than thirty pounds overall.

In terms of the right foods, it is important to attempt to be balanced without ignoring whatever cravings may come your way. The body has a way of letting you know what it wants and it is fine to go along with what it wants. Keep yourself surrounded in fresh fruits, vegetables, meats, and cooked fish to give your child both a variety of flavors and nutrients.

We all know what we have to do to be healthy, but many of us do not take the mental leap to make it happen. Whenever you are blessed with a child it is important to start thinking outside of yourself and making the choices you always knew were right in the first place.

By taking this approach, a lot of conception issues can be resolved. Also, lifestyle changes to increase overall health like stress reduction and dietary changes will be required as well. Some conception issues can be resolve this way as well.

There are some things to think about if one of the options you may have is in vitro fertilization. Not only is the procedure expensive, but there are several issues that go with it. Even though the odds are very good, if IFV is a good option for you, it is still surgery.

There are no absolute guarantees even though all of the procedures and fertility treatments do give you a much better chance. However, if you don’t seek out all your options, you’ll never know for sure if conception will be possible. Do you want a million dollar family? This is the coin termed to refer to families who have a boy and girl. I first heard this term when I gave birth to my second child, as I had had one of each gender.

Even if you are not after the million-dollar family, you may have some desire for one gender more than the other. When birth control was limited or really non-existent, parents had many children and knew that they had pretty good chances of having children of both genders. However, we now have less children, so if we want to influence the gender we get, we need to get it right the first time.

So it is easy to understand why many parents want to prepare so that they are having a boy or girl baby that they want. If you only plan on having two children, for example, you will not have many opportunities to get it right, so you need to get the information correct from the start!

Thankfully, advances in science in the areas of gender selection have made it possible to figure out what you need to do in order to get pregnant and end up having a boy or girl baby of your choice. Parents can take this information and put it to good use right from the comfort of their own homes.

The man’s sperm are either X or Y chromosomes. A woman’s egg contains X chromosomes. As a result, if the man’s X sperm meets with the woman’s egg, you will conceive a girl. If the man’s Y sperm meets with the woman’s egg, you will conceive a boy.

Scientists have found that X and Y differ in their motility, and therefore timing your conception is an important factor to consider. You have to know when you ovulate so that you can figure out when it is the appropriate time to have sexual intercourse.

It is also necessary to consume the right kinds of foods that create the right pH levels within your body, so that you increase the chances of having a boy or girl baby.

Another important, but often overlooked, thing that you need to do is limit stress in order that your body functions at its maximum level. Also be sure not to use cigarettes, drugs, and alcohol.

In summary, there are many more things that you can do to improve the odds of conceiving a boy or girl baby. You will want to be sure to find out all of the details on this as then you will be able to have the little baby you always wanted!

Three Clever Ways Of Paying For The Cost Of IVF

March 6, 2011 by Hope Collins

[I:http://www.thepregnancyhandbook.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/HopeCollins2.jpg]Millions of people in the U. S. are diagnosed with infertility every year. The majority of those people will be fortunate and be able to get pregnant with very little, and very inexpensive assistance from a fertility doctor. But for others, who cannot get pregnant without In Vitro Fertilization (IVF), they are often burdened with having to pay the high cost of IVF. Many people feel like they cannot come up with a realistic way to pay for IVF treatment, but that may change if they are persistent and start thinking creatively about their problem.

People who are truly dedicated to having a child through IVF will find some way to make that happen. One obvious solution that many people turn to is selling their unwanted items and using the profit to pay for the cost of IVF. They might sell anything from clothes to tools to collectibles that they don’t need any longer. And selling these things has never been easier now that resources like www.ebay.com and www.craigslist.com are available. Even an old fashioned rummage sale can be a source of extra income. People who are intent on going through IVF may ask their friends and family to contribute some of their unwanted belongings to be sold, in lieu of a contribution. The money raised from this venture may even be enough to pay for the IVF.

A straight forward solution to finding a way to pay for the cost of IVF is to get a second or part-time job, if only temporarily. If a person has an accommodating schedule the second job might even be based out of their own home. It is not widely known that there are many companies that outsource their customer service positions to people who work from their home. A quick internet search reveals hundreds of companies that hire work at home employees. This type of position would be ideal for someone who is looking to make extra money to help pay for IVF.

The couple may find many more opportunities to make some extra money to pay for the cost of IVF by talking with their friends and family. If the couple is comfortable sharing their personal information with their friends and family, they can make an announcement stating their need to generate income so that they can have a baby. They can request their help in finding part-time work that their friends and family may be able to offer, such as household chores or maintenance.

While many people really need to go through IVF to get pregnant, not everyone can afford to pay the high cost of IVF. These people can make their dream come true, but they may need to put in a little work in to get it accomplished. But, with a lot of persistence and a little creativity, IVF can be attainable for just about everyone.

Hope Collins has provided people with helpful advice for saving thousands of dollars on the cost of IVF for more than 12 years. Visit her site to get useful tips for dramatically lowering the expensive IVF costs.

Uncovered: Top 3 Disguised Fees That Can Increase The Cost Of IVF

March 6, 2011 by Hope Collins

[I:http://www.thepregnancyhandbook.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/HopeCollins0.jpg]When a couple is ready to go through an In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) treatment, the fertility clinic normally provides the couple with an estimate for the cost of IVF. The estimate details what the patient will pay for up front and what services may be charged in addition during the course of the IVF treatment. The fertility clinic’s estimate is normally presented in the form of a financial contract, which the couple is required to sign prior to starting their IVF cycle. Most people are nervous about signing any financial contracts that obligate them to paying money, and the IVF financial contracts are no exception. People are right to be worried about signing them because the fertility clinics design these contracts so as to maximize the amount of money they may charge a patient for their services.

In a conventional In Vitro Fertilization treatment, the female takes medications that stimulate her egg production. Before her IVF begins, her fertility doctor places an order for the medications. The doctor bases the dosage he orders on the results of the diagnostic tests and how much medication the patient will require to stimulate her eggs. Frequently, the patient does not respond adequately to the current dosage of medications and the doctor will then increase her dosage. This increase in the quantity of medications is a frequently unanticipated cost of IVF.

One of the side effects the egg stimulation medication may cause is the development of cysts on the patient’s ovaries. Typically, these cysts pose no threat and the fertility doctor will allow them to resolve on their own. If the cysts get too big, however, the fertility doctor will be forced to drain them so that they do not pose a problem. This process is called a cyst aspiration. A cyst aspiration procedure is not commonly included in the standard IVF cycle fees and is therefore a separately billable charge to the patient. Medical insurance may cover the cyst aspiration procedure. In the event that it does not, the patient will be responsible to pay for the cyst aspiration, which normally cost $1,400, in addition to the cost of IVF.

Occasionally the patient’s eggs do not respond adequately to the stimulation medications. If this occurs, the Reproductive Endocrinologist may cancel the IVF cycle and start again the following month. By canceling the IVF cycle, the doctor is preventing the patient from wasting the expensive fertility medications so she can use them the next month. Typically, the signed financial contract will state that the patient will be responsible for the monitoring services she incurred prior to the cancellation in addition to the cost of IVF.

When explaining the cost of IVF to a couple, the fertility clinic will emphasize that the quote provided is an estimate and that additional fees may arise during the course of the IVF treatment. Unfortunately, the couple has very little control over the additional fees, yet must sign the financial contract indicating that they will pay for them or they cannot proceed. The best way a couple can financially prepare themselves is to pay attention to the “fine print” in the financial document.

Hope Collins has been providing people with effective advice for saving thousands of dollars on the cost of IVF for over 12 years. Visit her website to learn useful tips for dramatically lowering the high IVF cost.
