Boy Or Girl – Pick The Gender

There are number of valid options out there for the parents who want to make sure that they get a girl or a boy. There are both natural and scientific methods available for those who want to make sure that they’re getting the child that they want.
Normally, there is about 50% chance to get pregnant with the gender a couple wants. However, with proper information and planning this probability can be increased. While there are couples who want to have either a boy or a girl, this information can be very important for them.
For some couples even getting pregnant can be extremely hard. In that case, when they finally succeed to conceive, the gender of the baby is probably inessential. As long as he or she is healthy, they are extremely glad.
Even though some methods will increase the chances of getting pregnant with a girl or a boy, this cannot be predicted 100% sure. We have to remember that. It is unfortunate that some couples are willing to do almost anything to get the gender of their hope.
If your hopes are too high, and the gender is “wrong”, it may reflect to your relationship with the baby. The situation like this is very sad because it is inevitably linked to child’s well-being and his/her emotional development.
One well-known method to conceive a boy or a girl specifically is Shettles method. This is strictly based on the time a woman is ovulating and some specific positions while being in intercourse.
It is scientifically proven that female sperm is stronger, but also slower, than male sperm. These facts are helpful when trying to get pregnant with either one of the genders.
When trying to conceive a boy, you should have an intercourse as close to woman’s ovulation as possible, preferably during the ovulation. While boy sperm is weaker than girl sperm the best positions are those with deep penetration. In this way distance to cervix is shorter which gives boy sperm better changes to survive and fertilize the egg.
If you want a girl, use the missionary position. Getting pregnant in that position up to three days before the woman actually ovulates can kill off the male sperm, as they die long before female sperm. These tougher female sperm will be around when the egg arrives, while the male sperm will have long expired.
It has been suggested that success rate in the Shettles method is at least 75 percent. Some people say that it can be even over 90 percent. Either the first or second number is true, it is still much better than 50/50.

How To Get Pregnant If You Suffer Infertility

There are a variety of infertility treatments available for couples who are suffering from this unwanted situation. Don’t give up hope too early if you have difficulties to conceive – there may be a solution for you. In this article I will give you a short introduction for some of the many infertility treatment options that are available today. So, how do you get pregnant if you are suffering from infertility?
First of all, you can find a lot of information about infertility and how to deal with it all over the internet. All infertility cases are unique and the treatment is always planned according to every specific situation.
The easiest and most common treatment for infertility is fertility drugs. While many women have difficulties to conceive because of irregular ovulation cycle, fertility drugs can help to make it more regular. It has been reported that these drugs help in four cases out of five.
Femara or Letrozol and Anastrozole or Arimidex can induce ovulation in women who have had trouble ovulating due to one reason or another. Success wise, it is similar to Clomid, which is actually the first thing doctors suggest.
Some researches have indicated as much as 50 percent success rate within women who were taking one of these fertility drugs.
If fallopian tubes are the cause of female infertility, it may require surgical approach. Because there are always some risks involved in this kind of operations, this is much more difficult condition to treat.
If fallopian tubes are suspected to be the cause of infertility, HSG (Hysterosalpingogram) test is typically used to determine whether this is the case. The most common way to open blocked fallopian tubes is laparoscopic surgery. However, sometimes unblocking is impossible, and in that case other options have to take into account.
Another way to deal with infertility is artificial insemination. This may be an option when the man is the one who has infertility problems, or the woman’s cervical mucus is lacking.
If you don’t have a man and still want to get pregnant and have a baby, you most probably use donor sperm. In that case the method used is artificial insemination. A drawback with artificial insemination is that the success rate is rather poor. The only plus point with this method is that it is much cheaper than ATR (Artificial Reproductive Technologies) and in vitro fertilization.
I hope you partly got an answer for the question, “how do you get pregnant if you are infertile?”. Nevertheless, these were just examples, and new, improved, technologies are being developed all the time. Just go to see your doctor and talk about what type of treatment would be the most suitable for your own situation.
Even if your situation is hopeless and there is nothing to do, you still have a couple of options to choose from, adoption and a surrogate mother. Even though you are not able to experience pregnancy yourself, you will love those children unconditionally. Good luck for your efforts of having a beautiful baby boy or girl of your dreams.

Infertility is a difficult issue to deal with. And if you are a couple who has or is dealing with it, you fully understand the frustrations, attitudes and untruths that can be associated with it. You have probably had to deal with all the different suggestions, superstitions and have had the sympathies of friends and family. Top fertility doctors in Houston can give couples hope when it comes to having children, no matter how frustrating infertility issues may seem. Nevertheless, they do wish that you would understand some of the issues concerning infertility treatments and what they could mean for you.
One of the first things you must be aware of is that there is no guarantee of success with these programs. But they do offer a better chance at success and that is the point. The probabilities of conceiving and having a child are increased significantly with the availability of different treatment options. There are, however, a few things you much still consider.
There will be a lot of tests on both partners to see if there is a medical reason why you’re not conceiving. Sperm counts will be taken and there will be a lot of examinations to ensure viability and if there’s a medical issue, then it can be addressed. By taking this approach, a lot of conception issues can be resolved. Also, lifestyle changes to increase overall health like stress reduction and dietary changes will be required as well. Some conception issues can be resolve this way as well.
There are some things to think about if one of the options you may have is in vitro fertilization. Not only is the procedure expensive, but there are several issues that go with it. Although financial options are available, couples are urged to give this heavy consideration because of the cost. Even though the odds are very good, if IFV is a good option for you, it is still surgery.
There are no absolute guarantees even though all of the procedures and fertility treatments do give you a much better chance. However, if you don’t seek out all your options, you’ll never know for sure if conception will be possible. If you’re a couple dealing with these issues, go into it with realistic expectations and a hopeful attitude. Then the doctors at fertility treatment centers can have their best chance of helping.
Finding caring Houston fertility doctors who are experts in their field takes just a little research. And as someone who has a passion for women’s health issues, Andi Beark knows that a great Houston fertility center can help with an effective outcome.

Pregnancy Signs

Pregnancy signs vary from woman to woman as well as from pregnancy to pregnancy. However, the most significant sign that a woman is pregnant is a missing period or menstrual cycle. Understanding the symptoms of pregnancy is very important because some symptoms may be unrelated to pregnancy and may indicate a different medical condition exists.
Some women start feeling the symptoms of pregnancy within just a week of conception. For other women, it may take two, three or even five weeks before they begin to feel different. For some women, they may not feel symptoms at all.
Pregnancy Symptoms
If you have recently been sexually active, there is the possibility that you are pregnant. Pregnancy symptoms generally present very early on and the most common sign, aside from a missed menstrual cycle is fatigue. Tiredness is an early pregnancy symptom that can occur as early as a week after becoming pregnant. Generally, the symptoms are an overall feeling of being run down and just physically tired all the time.
Other symptoms of pregnancy include swollen and tender breasts which usually presents two or three weeks after becoming pregnant. For many women, their breasts feel tender and sore, and may also feel or appear swollen.
Early Signs of Pregnancy
Between two and eight weeks, for many women morning sickness sets in. This unpleasant symptom of pregnancy entails a relatively constant state of nausea. Although it is called morning sickness, the actual symptoms may be present at any time, or all of the time during this period of pregnancy.
Other pregnancy symptoms present at later stages during the pregnancy, and are to be expected. Depending on the woman, these symptoms may be severe or very light, but may include: backache, food cravings, headaches, frequent urination, and darkening of the areola.
Calendar for Pregnancy
Aside from the symptoms of pregnancy, a pregnancy calendar may be a useful way to track your pregnancy week by week. Your baby will grow on a daily basis, and a week by week approach may help to both manage the changes, as well as enhance the experience of pregnancy.
For many women, using a pregnancy calendar helps to keep the experience in perspective. Depending on your disposition, there are many types of pregnancy calendars to choose from. Instead of actual calendaring, many women also find it useful to reference a book such as what to expect when expecting and the week by week descriptions to help the monitor their pregnancy and how their body is changing.

Three Clever Ways Of Paying For The Cost Of IVF
March 6, 2011 by Hope Collins

[I:http://www.thepregnancyhandbook.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/HopeCollins2.jpg]Millions of people in the U. S. are diagnosed with infertility every year. The majority of those people will be fortunate and be able to get pregnant with very little, and very inexpensive assistance from a fertility doctor. But for others, who cannot get pregnant without In Vitro Fertilization (IVF), they are often burdened with having to pay the high cost of IVF. Many people feel like they cannot come up with a realistic way to pay for IVF treatment, but that may change if they are persistent and start thinking creatively about their problem.
People who are truly dedicated to having a child through IVF will find some way to make that happen. One obvious solution that many people turn to is selling their unwanted items and using the profit to pay for the cost of IVF. They might sell anything from clothes to tools to collectibles that they don’t need any longer. And selling these things has never been easier now that resources like www.ebay.com and www.craigslist.com are available. Even an old fashioned rummage sale can be a source of extra income. People who are intent on going through IVF may ask their friends and family to contribute some of their unwanted belongings to be sold, in lieu of a contribution. The money raised from this venture may even be enough to pay for the IVF.
A straight forward solution to finding a way to pay for the cost of IVF is to get a second or part-time job, if only temporarily. If a person has an accommodating schedule the second job might even be based out of their own home. It is not widely known that there are many companies that outsource their customer service positions to people who work from their home. A quick internet search reveals hundreds of companies that hire work at home employees. This type of position would be ideal for someone who is looking to make extra money to help pay for IVF.
The couple may find many more opportunities to make some extra money to pay for the cost of IVF by talking with their friends and family. If the couple is comfortable sharing their personal information with their friends and family, they can make an announcement stating their need to generate income so that they can have a baby. They can request their help in finding part-time work that their friends and family may be able to offer, such as household chores or maintenance.
While many people really need to go through IVF to get pregnant, not everyone can afford to pay the high cost of IVF. These people can make their dream come true, but they may need to put in a little work in to get it accomplished. But, with a lot of persistence and a little creativity, IVF can be attainable for just about everyone.

Uncovered: Top 3 Disguised Fees That Can Increase The Cost Of IVF
March 6, 2011 by Hope Collins

[I:http://www.thepregnancyhandbook.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/HopeCollins0.jpg]When a couple is ready to go through an In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) treatment, the fertility clinic normally provides the couple with an estimate for the cost of IVF. The estimate details what the patient will pay for up front and what services may be charged in addition during the course of the IVF treatment. The fertility clinic’s estimate is normally presented in the form of a financial contract, which the couple is required to sign prior to starting their IVF cycle. Most people are nervous about signing any financial contracts that obligate them to paying money, and the IVF financial contracts are no exception. People are right to be worried about signing them because the fertility clinics design these contracts so as to maximize the amount of money they may charge a patient for their services.
In a conventional In Vitro Fertilization treatment, the female takes medications that stimulate her egg production. Before her IVF begins, her fertility doctor places an order for the medications. The doctor bases the dosage he orders on the results of the diagnostic tests and how much medication the patient will require to stimulate her eggs. Frequently, the patient does not respond adequately to the current dosage of medications and the doctor will then increase her dosage. This increase in the quantity of medications is a frequently unanticipated cost of IVF.
One of the side effects the egg stimulation medication may cause is the development of cysts on the patient’s ovaries. Typically, these cysts pose no threat and the fertility doctor will allow them to resolve on their own. If the cysts get too big, however, the fertility doctor will be forced to drain them so that they do not pose a problem. This process is called a cyst aspiration. A cyst aspiration procedure is not commonly included in the standard IVF cycle fees and is therefore a separately billable charge to the patient. Medical insurance may cover the cyst aspiration procedure. In the event that it does not, the patient will be responsible to pay for the cyst aspiration, which normally cost $1,400, in addition to the cost of IVF.
Occasionally the patient’s eggs do not respond adequately to the stimulation medications. If this occurs, the Reproductive Endocrinologist may cancel the IVF cycle and start again the following month. By canceling the IVF cycle, the doctor is preventing the patient from wasting the expensive fertility medications so she can use them the next month. Typically, the signed financial contract will state that the patient will be responsible for the monitoring services she incurred prior to the cancellation in addition to the cost of IVF.
When explaining the cost of IVF to a couple, the fertility clinic will emphasize that the quote provided is an estimate and that additional fees may arise during the course of the IVF treatment. Unfortunately, the couple has very little control over the additional fees, yet must sign the financial contract indicating that they will pay for them or they cannot proceed. The best way a couple can financially prepare themselves is to pay attention to the “fine print” in the financial document.

The Primary Reasons For The Inability To Get Pregnant
March 5, 2011 by Mary Cambly
Lots of couples have difficulty conceiving for a variety of different reasons. There are lots of causes of infertility. In many cases there will usually be one or two root causes which can be diagnosed by a fertility specialist and hopefully they will be able to treat it medically. This can then hopefully lead to pregnancy, although it is not always an easy path.
Both men and women are affected by infertility and the many reasons it occurs. If a man and woman attempt conception but it doesn’t happen one of the test doctors will do is to examine the man’s sperm. If infertility is caused by a male the problem is related to sperm production. These problems can either be with the sperm count. A low sperm count means the man is not producing enough of it. The other issue may be with low motility which relates to the sperms ability to reach a woman;s egg. These can be dealt with in many ways.
The cause of these problems are sperm production which is abnormal and can be a challenge to treat. A mans testicles being too warm can be another reason for this happening. Heat can lower male sperm count. This can be solved by a change in the underwear that is worn. Loose fitting boxer shorts are preferable to tightly fitting briefs. Blockages can occur causing the passage of sperm to be impeded and these can sometimes be fixed by surgery.
Sometimes infertility in women is caused by problems associated with their ovulation. Sometimes this can lead to a woman not producing an egg while other times there is a fault in how the body does this. Conditions such as premature ovarian failure, where a woman stops ovulating earlier than is common can affect fertility. Women who experience thyroid disorders can also see their ovulation interrupted making pregnancy less likely.
Difficulties related to the health of a woman’s womb or her fallopian tubes may also lead to issues arising. If these areas have been affected it will decrease the possibility of her being fertilized. Problems in this area could have been caused by cervical or pelvic surgeries she has undergone.
Some medications and drugs which are legal and illegal can have an effect on the body. This applies to males and females and can reduce fertility. Consumption of toxins like alcohol can also have a detrimental effect when attempting conception.
A woman’s age can be a decisive factor when fertility is being considered. When a woman passes the age of thirty she is less likely to conceive. This becomes even more of an issue when she’s older than thirty five. Lots of women need to think about fertility assistance treatments to help them conceive.
Often the causes of infertility cannot be identified. In these unfortunate cases couples are encouraged to keep trying. In other examples they can be referred for IVF treatment. Often fertility can be lowered by environmental factors such as stress. Diet can also play a part. You may want to look at your lifestyle to see if any alterations are needed. Talking to a medical professional will help you both decide what you need to do to help bring about conception.

Drinking During Pregnancy
March 5, 2011 by Julie Xillion

Drinking when pregnant has big risks to the pregnant mother. Unfortunately, statistics reveal that in this area twelve percent of women in the United States consume at a little when pregnant and approximately 2 percent binge-drink. Earlier this year the Center for Disease Control reiterated that those percentages have not changed significantly in the more than 18 years. From a the standpoint of good health, drinking when pregnant can genuinely effect development of the baby and the ensuing fetal alcohol syndrome may well take a generation of intensive therapy to control.
Drinking When Pregnant
Grown of alcohol when pregnant in essence supplies toxin into the developing baby which may influence his or her development. A lot of women however, decide to drink a flute of alcohol during pregnancy or infrequently consume one or two drinks. While the risk of injury may be less with a smaller amount frequent consumption, scientists have not yet found out what, if any, amount of alcohol consumption is safe for the pregnant woman. As a result, there is almost universal agreement that expecting mothers should avoid drinking alcohol during pregnancy.
Nutrients and Vitamins May Help While Pregnant
For those moms who are unsuccessfully fighting alcohol addiction, there may be some hope on the horizon. A study being prepared in SDSU is looking at the effects of drinking alcohol on 600 expecting mothers in the Ukraine. The study is looking at the nutrient choline to predict the effect, if any, it may have on the expecting mothers and their children. In looking at the quote form the AP press release that announced the drinking while pregnant study.
“Nutrition plays a powerful role in proper development of the brain and nervous system: Getting enough folate during pregnancy, for example, can prevent spina bifida and related birth defects. And significant alcohol consumption interferes with mom’s ability to absorb various nutrients, in turn affecting whether her fetus gets enough. So Thomas’ group tested choline, a precursor to a brain chemical that plays a key role in learning. She exposed pregnant rats to alcohol during a third-trimester spurt of brain growth. Giving the mother rats extra choline – or, importantly, giving newborn pups the nutrient – significantly improved the pups’ later ability to learn.”
In addition to choline, zinc and a few other nutrients and minerals are being looked at to determine if they have an effect on these conditions. The best advice however, is to still have a healthy and varied diet. When pregnant, take care of your health, eat right, avoid toxins, and enjoy your pregnancy.
Total refrain from alcohol is the best approach to ensuring that drinking liquor does not affect the baby. In addition to nutrition status, genetics, and levels of consumption, there are numerous other factors that determine if drinking alcohols during pregnancy will affect the baby. With all those variables, and the risk of a bad outcome, why risk it?
